Ride-hailing apps
Apps work in and around Colombo and are convenient once you have a local SIM and data. The catch on arrival is exactly that: you need connectivity before you can book, the pickup point is outside the terminal, and vehicle size is not guaranteed for four suitcases.
App coverage also thins out quickly beyond the western province, so they are a poor fit for hill country and long intercity runs.
